Ages 10½–14 Real adventure. Real skills. Real responsibility.
75 minutes a week of the kind of stuff most adults never get to do — kayaking, climbing, navigating, leading. Scouts plan their own programme and run camps with growing independence.

We hand them more rope each week — sometimes literally — and they keep proving they can handle it.
— Section Leader, Scouts
Tea-makers, idea-havers, garage-rummagers — we'll find you a job that fits.
For as little or as much time as you can spare. Most of our volunteers are parents who didn't think they'd end up here either.
The stuff parents always ask.
+ What does my child need to bring?
Just a water bottle and clothes they don't mind getting muddy. Uniform comes after the first few weeks.
+ Is there a waiting list?
Sometimes. Sign up anyway — we'll tell you straight away where you stand and roughly when a place is likely.
+ My child has additional needs — can they join?
Yes. Always. Email us first and we'll have a chat about how to make it work.
+ Can I stay and watch?
First night, absolutely. After that, parents help out by rota, but you don't have to be there every week.
